The Hague
The city of The Hague is one of the initiators of the Haaglanden Climate Fund. The Hague aims to be a fully climate-neutral city by 2050.
This is a rightful challenge, because the CO2 emissions of The Hague amounted to about 2,700 kilotons in 2009! Of these emissions, 20 per cent was caused by traffic (mobility), 34 per cent by households (living) and 46 per cent by businesses (working).
The The Hague Climate Fund was founded to help realise this ambition. The most important pillars of the activities of the fund and the city of The Hague are:
- saving on conventional energy
- promoting the use of sustainable energy
- reducing the CO2 emissions by supporting local, climate-friendly projects.
